Key Craft Formulas

The math behind your favourite projects.

Cross Stitch Fabric Size

Fabric Width (inches) = (Stitch Width ÷ Fabric Count) + (2 × Border)
Fabric Height (inches) = (Stitch Height ÷ Fabric Count) + (2 × Border)

Fabric count is the number of stitches per inch (e.g., 14‑count Aida gives 14 stitches/inch). A border of 2‑3 inches is standard for framing.

Quilt Binding Yardage

Binding Length = (2 × (Quilt Width + Quilt Length)) + 15 inches
Number of Strips = Binding Length ÷ Width of Fabric (WOF)
Total Yardage = (Number of Strips × Binding Width) ÷ 36

The extra 15 inches accounts for corners and joining. Binding width is typically 2.5 inches. WOF is usually 42 inches.

Resin Mixing Ratio

Part A (Resin) = Total Volume × (Ratio_A ÷ (Ratio_A + Ratio_B))
Part B (Hardener) = Total Volume × (Ratio_B ÷ (Ratio_A + Ratio_B))

For a 2:1 ratio, Part A = 2/3 of total, Part B = 1/3. Always follow manufacturer instructions for your epoxy system.

Frequently Asked Questions

A cross stitch calculator helps you determine the fabric size you need for a pattern based on stitch count and fabric count (e.g., 14‑count Aida). It also suggests extra border for framing. Our Cross Stitch Calculator provides instant results with no sign‑up.
Add the perimeter of the quilt plus extra for corners, then divide by the width of your binding strip fabric. Our Quilt Binding Calculator does this for you and includes seam allowances, giving the exact yardage required.
A resin calculator helps you measure the correct amounts of resin and hardener based on a mixing ratio (e.g., 2:1 or 3:1). It prevents waste and ensures proper curing. NumbrWiz’s Resin Calculator supports various epoxy systems and volume inputs.
