GR = N₁ / N₂
Ratio of drive gear teeth (N₁) to driven gear teeth (N₂). Determines speed and torque conversion in mechanical power transmission systems.
Power Factor
PF = P / S = cos(φ)
Ratio of real power (P) to apparent power (S) in AC circuits. Ideal PF is 1.0; lower values indicate reactive power losses.
Ohm's Law
V = I × R
Voltage (V) equals current (I) multiplied by resistance (R). Fundamental to all electrical engineering calculations including amps-to-kW conversions.
Moment of Inertia (Rectangle)
I = bh³ / 12
Second moment of area for a rectangular cross-section about its centroidal axis. b = base width, h = height. Essential for beam deflection analysis.
Friction Loss (Darcy-Weisbach)
hf = f · (L/D) · (v²/2g)
